Toona Cilita gives commanding run to land Royal Dad Trophy

KINGSTON, Jamaica – After testing Triple Crown winner Supreme Soul to the hilt in the Jamaica St Leger, Toona Ciliata returned in the pink of form to take home the Royal Trophy in what was Restricted Stakes event run over nine furlongs and 25 yards.

With Linton Steadman in the saddle, the Anthony Nunes trainee took his time as Black River set off in front. Travelling down the backstretch Sentient (Anthony Thomas) and Toona Cilita started a fierce battle from about four furlongs out with foreigner She’s An Introvert (She’s An Introvert) lurking around.

In the straight, the battle royal continued between Sentient and Toona Ciliata but it was the latter who produced more to run away for an easy two- length victory.

Sentient was second with a labouring She’s An Introvert third.

The winning time was 1:56.1.
