KINGSTON, Jamaica – With the blitz of last weekend’s Guineas races over with it is down to the nitty-gritty part of racing again this Saturday (June 12) when a 10-race card is down to be decided.

The highest-ranking race on the day is an Overnight Allowance contest to be contested over a mile by nine horses.

As is always the case, THE QUICK GALLOPER in doing his assessment of the chances of these nine runners, begins with a process of elimination.

Of the nine horses scheduled to face the starter the following are eliminated as having no or little chance of winning.

This grouping includes Master of Hall, Casual Peach, Chinamax, Let Him Fly, and Uncle Vinnie.

The second rating grouping is made up of the horses with an outsider’s chance of winning. The horses in this second grouping are Uncle Frank and Awesome Treasure.

Uncle Frank is slowly rounding into form as can be seen by his third-place finish on May 8, when he finished third behind Superluminal and Excessive Force. A place on the board is Uncle Frank’s best bet.

Awesome Treasure is learning how to cope at the Overnight level. She is progressing and her time will soon come.

The two left to contest for the majority of the $1 million purse are Double Crown and Excessive Force.

Double Crown got a serious pipe opener on Monday last at six furlongs, now at a mile, to which he is much better suited, Double Crown will be best over the last two furlongs. Double Crown is ready.

Excessive Force, the US-bred is poised for a winning run but is hampered by himself. Excessive Force is prone to running wide at the bends and this bad habit has cost him a lot in recent times.

If Excessive Force can curb this habit, he has a real chance of winning.

THE QUICK GALLOPER’S choice is Double Crown from the red hot stables of trainer Ian Parsard.
