KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Phillip Parchment continued his imperious form of last weekend when he rode four winners, with another tick in the win column, atop JJ The Striker in the St Leger Day (July 2, 2022) first at Caymanas Park.
Seven horses (two declared late non-starters) journeyed to the gates in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two) call at six furlongs.
Parchment was out in good order on the Fitznahum Williams trained JJ The Striker, easily setting the fractions although being niggled by Thegoodlife (Omar Walker). Big Argument (Dick Cardenas) raced in third.
Thegoodlife started to falter while rounding the bend, as Big Argument moved up as the main challenger to JJ The Striker.
In the straight, Parchment got bust with JJ The Striker responding by pulling away for the win by three lengths. Bug Argument was second with 4-5 favourite Great Britt (Anthony Thomas) third.
