KINGSTON, Jamaica – The bullet works by I Am Di One in the mornings manifested itself on the track for the first time today as the three-year-old dark bay filly by Adore The Gold – It Is I produced a nice turn of foot at the top of the lane to get home without a fuss in a maiden condition three-year-old event for fillies only run over six furlongs just moments ago at Caymanas Park.
Trained by Anthony Nunes and ridden by Bajan Simon Husbands, I Am Di One stayed behind the leaders before tugging Husbands to the front at the top of the lane to win by a commanding eight lengths. Second went to Black River with Formal Vision third.
I Am Di One clocked 1:14.3 for the distance of six furlongs, the same time as her stablemate Don Almighty (three-year-old bay colt) who won the second race on today’s card.
This was the second winner for Nunes on the day.
In his post-race interview Nunes stated that while he was encouraged by the effort of his filly it was literally a race against time to really have a say in the Classic 1000 Guineas scheduled to be run on April 13.
