Little cousin Reyan Lewis ‘bops’ bigger cousin Omar Walker to land triple

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The ninth race – an Optional Claiming event for $550, 000 - $500,000 horses over a mile pitted cousins apprentice Reyan Lewis on Rising Bop and six-time champion Omar Walker on Danos La Paz is a searing stretch duel which in the end Lewis got the better of.
Rising Bop also provided a rare win for wily veteran of the trainers’ rank, Stanley ‘Sam Pookie’ Findlay. As to be expected, Findlay radiated pure joy in the winners’ enclosure as he greeted and chatted with racing fans.
Rising Bop defeated Danos La Paz by 1 ¼ lengths while the latter was 2 ¾ lengths in front of third place Burlin. Rising Boy recorded a time of 1:42.2 for the race distance of a mile.
The race was named in honour of jockey Aaron Chatrie.
