KINGSTON, Jamaica – The fourth race on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Caymanas Park is a three-year-old maiden call in which eight horses are entered going a distance of a mile.

The Quick Galloper’s analysis is provided below for the perusal of readers on this website.

– ATOMIC ENERGY is a chestnut filly (February 5) by Patton Proud out of Nuclear Girl trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. This filly is slowly her way after two efforts to date. Atomic Energy journeys over a mile, which should suit her running style. Has every chance of getting off the mark.

– LEADING LAD is a chestnut colt (May 16) by Soul Warrior out of My Angel trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster aboard. Did well on debut (May 19) when finishing fourth by six lengths behind Loyal Action going 6 ½ furlongs. Then Leading Lad was making up ground, and with the extended trip and has shown improvement in the mornings is expected to put in a capital run.

– MODERN MIRACLE is a chestnut colt (January 2) by Hedge Fund out of Sound of Miracle trained by Anthony Nunes with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. Coming along, but with the stable jockey instead choosing to ride Leading Lad, the best Modern Miracle can hope for is a place on the board.

– CALIFORNIA GOLD is a bay colt (April 6) by Lion Tamer out of Blue Saphira trained by Patrick Lynch with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Moving up from five furlongs to eight is not ideal for this colt. Needs time. Note, California Gold races with the blinkers off.

– HOME ALONE is a bay colt (May 21) by Soul Warrior out of Nuclear Princess trained by Colin Ferguson with Christopher Mamdeen in the saddle. Will gain valuable experience from this run. Note, Home Alone races with the tongue tie and figure 8 off, and first-time Lasix.

– PHENOMENAL ONE is a chestnut colt (March 31) by Lion Tamer out of Darlin trained by Jason DaCosta with Jerome Innis aboard. Has not raced since February 8, when finishing fourth beaten by Secret Admiral at seven furlongs. Phenomenal One has been timely prepared for this return run with the distance seemingly in his favour. He will have to overcome his habit of being slow out of the box to have a realistic chance of winning. Can be the spoiler in this one.

– MR. SENATOR is a roan colt (May 1) by Natural Selection out of Khadiliah trained by Anthony Nunes with Linton Steadman in the saddle. Coming along but will be handled by rivals.

– TOKILLAMOCKINGBIRD is a bay colt (March 6) by Lion Tamer out of Newton’s First Law trained by Marlon Anderson with Abigail Able in the saddle. The most experienced of his lot, who has not shown anything of worth to date.
