KINGSTON, Jamaica – A well timed ride by apprentice Mario Chong allowed 2-1 chance Prince Sammo trained by Dennis Lee to win the Caymanas Saturday third which was run in honour of veterinarian Dr Sophia Ramlal.

Chong waited patiently on Prince Sammo in the five-year-old and upwards claiming ($180,000 - $150,000) call at five furlongs round as Zi Beast (Abigail Able) blazed the trail, leading by 8 to 10 lengths at one point in the contest.

In the straight it was still Zi Beast, as Chong let loose Prince Sammo on the inside rails. Prince Sammo responded and won easily by 5 ¼ lengths.

Second was Pinders Valley with Jason’s Gold third.

Prince Sammo was the third career win for Chong.
