RACE TYPE – Three-year-old Restricted Stakes non-winners of four
DISTANCE – five furlongs round
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Omar “Hot” Walker produced one of his best rides in a while when he piloted the USA bred chestnut filly Solid Approach to a scintillating come from behind victory in the Caymanas Saturday sixth run just moments ago.
In this hot sprint, Solid Approach (US importee) was not the best away as out of the blue it was Ocean Wave (Youville Pinnock) who shot off into the lead. Known speedsters She’s A Hit and Basilicus could not match the early salvo of Ocean Wave.
Steadily making up ground on the outside, Solid Approach trained by Robert Pearson, Walker really started to push his mount in the straight but Ocean Wave was not giving up as she maintained a strong gallop.
Yet Walker got Solid Approach to accelerate even more earning the victory “in the glass” by a head.
Ocean Wave was second with Silent Seeker third.
This was the second win from seven starts for Solid Approach, and it was the second win on the day for Walker.
