Fayrouz comes good, wins Caymanas Park 60th Anniversary Trophy; Sparkle Diamond a late non-starter

FAYROUZ 6 JUNE 9 2018

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Fayrouz after eight starts without a win, came good in fine fashion to win the Caymanas Park 60th Anniversary Trophy – an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upwards over a journey of 7 ½ furlongs.

The race lost its almost of its spark when the then 1-2 favourite behaved badly at the starting gates, pulling out of his number seven starting stall and was declared a late non-starter by the veterinarian on duty.

Apprentice Reyan Lewis atop Fayrouz kept the chestnut filly off the pace set by Kappone and Sergeant Reckless. Moving down smoothly, Fayrouz joined the leaders at the top of the straight and then pulled away for a comfortable 2 ¾ length victory. The final time for 7 ½ furlongs was 1:32.4.

Second went to the fast finishing Uncle Vinnie with Summer Sun third.

Trained by Anthony Nunes, Fayrouz went off at odds of 3-1.
