KINGSTON, Jamaica - Despite the presence of two trophy races, the three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance event going five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course is expected to highlight the 11-race programme tomorrow (July 23) at Caymanas Park.
The seven runners are analysed below.
  1. ARTESIA: (4 gr f by Sensational Slam – Runaway Julie) – Comes into this race on the backend of two consecutive victories in the lower class, and now she tries Overnight Allowance for the first time. Artesia is quickly improving and with a moderate field can make a winning debut at this level.
  1. CURLIN’S AFFAIR: (4 ch c by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair) – Finished in 11th place by 25 lengths behind Jordon Reign’s and Lure of Lucy over 6 ½ furlongs on June 18. Then it was clear that Curlin’s Affair was not himself. On Saturday, Curlin’s Affair faces a more manageable group and is expected to run a much better race. He will start as the favourite.
  1. SHEBOOM: (5 gr m by American Dance – Holy Princess) – Did extremely well to reach this class after facing the starter 46 times for her four career victories. For Sheboom, a winning run here is highly unlikely.
  1. GENERATIONAL: (5 ch g by Fearless Vision – Electrifying) – With just one win from seven starts this season, Generational has no form to recommend, but in this average field, could run surprisingly well, especially if he is allowed to be a lonely figure on the headlines.
  1. EL PROFESOR: (7 b g by Casual Trick – The Principal) – Has been disappointing in his races in recent times. This is El Profesor’s easiest task in a while and should run.
  1. T BRADY: (4 b c by Silent Valor – Burning Clearance) – Is going to be left behind, especially at this short distance.
  1. LOOSE BALL: (5 dkb g by Fearless Vision – My Friend Lucy) – A winner among claimers. Loose Ball has to catch the rhythm of this grouping first before a winning effort can be expected.
