KINGSTON, Jamaica – A change of tactics on Fabulosity by jockey Dick Cardenas, running on instead of leading, brought victory in the first of 10-races on the Independence race card at Caymanas Park. Fabulosity won at long odds of 39-1.

Cardenas who returned to active race riding just last week after operating in the United States earned his first return trip to the winners’ enclosure on the Victor Williams trainee in an Optional Claimer ($450,000 - $400,000) run over seven furlongs.

Fabulosity a winner last Saturday is well-known for her speed with a tendency to falter quickly over shorter distances. This time Cardenas held the filly behind a bunched-up pack vying for the lead including Storm Valley (Chris Mamdeen), Luana (Anthony Thomas) and Mirabilis (Samantha Flecther).

Luana brought the pack into the stretch for the last two furlongs with Fabulosity still needing to make-up ground.

That the filly did under expert guidance by Cardenas to win by 2 ¼ lengths. Luana was second and Storm Valley third.
