KINGSTON, Jamaica – A well-supported Overnight call for three-year-olds and upwards over six furlongs is the centrepiece on the nine-race card this Sunday (December 11, 2022.
The Quick Galloper’s analysis is provided below.
1 – THE GOOD WITCH has not fully captured racing on a strange track. Will not be a factor.
2 – ARTESIA is coming to grips with the Overnight grade after winning a restricted event at this level. A shot for a place on the board.
3 – SWEET MAJESTY is attending every party in recent times, doing so with some consistency. That consistent trend will continue.
4 – LAST LICK is the success story of 2022. His run of four straight wins will come to an end as he needs time to get accustomed to the new environment of Overnight Allowance.
5 – GOLDEN WATTLE in her second attempt in Overnight Allowance will find it difficult bettering her sixth place finish on November 5.
6 – GO DEH GIRL is familiar with this scenario and should be in the thick of things. Her speed and ability to stay close to the pace will aid her cause.
7 – NUCLEAR NOON is made for this race. If he is in the best of shape, Nuclear Noon would devour these but he is returning from surgery and will need time to find himself. Nuclear Noon has to be watched.
8 – MONEY MONSTER is a fighter who can never be disregarded out of the reckoning at this level. However, he allows weight all-round and will have to be at his best to get home in front.
9 – TAURUS BOY is making a bold move by stepping up above his class to compete in Overnight. Taurus Boy is in for a tough assignment.
10 – I’VE GOT MAGIC makes a quick return (8 days) after placing sixth in last weekend’s Mouttet Mile. The journey is right for I’ve Got Magic, and he is in good nick as evidenced by his effort in the Mouttet Mile. I’ve Got Magic will be the deciding factor in this one.
11 – AMY THE BUTCHER cannot deal with these.
12 – BILLY WHIZZ returns from a long break of 162 days. Will need time to find himself, but if allowed to lead in an uncontested he is going to be hard to peg back. Watch Billy Whizz closely in this one.
13 – UNRULY BOSS did well to finish second (6 ½ furlongs) on October 30 behind Miniature Man, who has since gone on to win the Chairman’s Plate. Unruly Boss is going to be a factor for hitting the board.
14 – BLUE VINYL makes a quick return following a truly disappointing effort in the Mouttet Mile (8th). While Blue Vinyl seeks redemption, six furlongs will not suit his running style, especially against well-worn rivals. Note, Blue Vinyl races with the blinkers on.
