KINGSTON, Jamaica – After promising much when she made a winning debut last year, Casual Drink did enough to win this year’s running of the 7-furlong Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders’ Association Trophy at Caymanas Park not long ago.

Ridden by apprentice Christopher Mamdeen and trained by Gary Subratie, Casual Drink got home in Restricted Allowance 11 for three-year-olds – non winners of two.

Casual Drink was kept of the early lead as El Gringo (Roger Hewitt) shot to the front. Making his move with three furlongs to go, Mamdeen brought Casual Trick closer to the leaders and eventually took over at the top of the straight, pulling off by two to three lengths but had to dig real deep to hold the challenge of Latapy (Reyan Lewis) over the last furlong.

Casual Drink won by three parts of a length with Blood Fire bursting through to get third.

This was the second winner on the day for Subratie.
