KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Lightning McQueen got the Sunday (July 26) – 2000 Guineas race day off to a 'favourite' start by winning the first of the 10 planned races on the day.

Lightning McQueen who has his problems with injuries and at five is lightly raced turned up in unbeatable condition to take the Restricted Allowance call for five-year-olds and upwards non-winners of three races run over 6 1/2 furlongs.

Jockey Orlando Foster pushed Lightning McQueen straight to the front when the gates opened and although coming under some pressure from Cohete del Exito (Anthony Allen) in the final furlong was still able to hang on.

Cohete del Exito was second with Acapella third.

Lightning McQueen provided his trainer Fernando Geddes with a rare victory.
