KINGSTON, Jamaica – For the second consecutive race day jockey Anthony Thomas has collected three winners to push him five ahead of Dane Nelson in the race for jockeys’ honour in 2020.
Thomas who fell from Gorgeous Gift in the race before closed his triple with a sublime performance aboard the Wayne DaCosta trained Fearless Champion. Fearless Champion was successful in the day’s sixth race which was a Restricted Allowance for three-year-olds non-winners of two races run over 7 1/2 furlongs.
Thomas was way behind tearaway leader foreigner Awesome Boy (Raddesh Roman) on the outside but he never gave up and kept pushing the Wayne DaCosta trained Fearless Champion who responded by turning on the afterburners to claim victory in the last half-a-furlong over Kholbear (Nicholar Hibbert) and High Diplomacy (Dick Cardenas) as Awesome Boy chucked in the gallop.
The winning time was 1:33.1.
