KINGSTON, Jamaica – Under a very patient ride, coming from way off the pace, former champion jockey Dane Nelson just delivered his 999th winner at Caymanas Park on board the Everal Francis trained, Nuclear Lava in the Joseph Armond Memorial Cup, the feature race on the mid-week card.

Nuclear Lava won at odds of 7-2 in the field of seven horses competing in a Restricted Allowance event for native bred three-year-olds non-winner of two and maiden foreigners over nine furlongs at 25 yards. The winning time was 2:00.1 with splits of 27.0 x 52.0 x 1:17.3 x 154.1.

Second went to outsider Dezzy The Genius (Odeen Edwards) at 15-1 with the third slot being occupied by the 3-5 favourite Dyna’s Pride with Shane Ellis in the saddle.
