KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup, tomorrow’s (Wednesday, November 14, 2018) feature race on the well supported 10 -race card at Caymanas Park has been thrown wide open with the late withdrawal of hot ante-post favourite, Supreme Soul from the barn of trainer Anthony Nunes.

This cup race is for two-year-old maidens and will be run over seven furlongs, the longest juvenile race thus far for this season.

The reason/s for the withdrawal of Supreme Soul by Soul Warrior – Beware Bay, making the chestnut colt a half brother to the talented Bigdaddykool, is not known at the time of writing this article.

That leaves 10 starters in the race, including 3 first time runners, Braeton Gigolo trained by Enos Brown, Out On A Limb trained by Wayne Parchment and Emerald Star trained by Fitznahum Williams.

None of the 10 have shown any form of worth thus far, making the search for a winner very difficult.

Braeton Gigolo (Freedom From Jante – More Candy) is not doing too badly on the exercise track but we will have to wait on this one.

Matriarch (Casual Trick – Witchcraft) is one of the most experienced of the lot but she has done precious little to inspire any confidence. However, given the nature of her opponents, Matriarch may well use her experience to have an impact on the outcome.

Devine Lexie (Natural Selection – Preach Preacher) has raced six times and has been put in her place in all her races. No change is expected.

Don Julio (Liquidity – Little Wasp) – racing for the first time with the tongue tie on but that change of equipment should do precious little for his chances tomorrow.

Salah (Soul Warrior – Anna), has raced once without showing anything.

Fighting Valbee (Storm Craft – Jah Karma), races for the second occasion, this time with the use of Lasix. This filly was 8 ½ lengths fourth, behind Princess Annie in that first run and given the lack of form in the race, maybe the best bet.

Riddim Up (Market Rally – Exotic Gold), is a nicely bred colt who has raced twice without troubling any pigeons. Riddim Up goes with the tongue tie on and the blinkers off.

Out On A Limb (Who’s Stayin On – Storm Watch) – has not done anything on the exercise track to merit consideration.

Emerald Star (Miracle Man – Lady Maragin) has been working in the mornings but with no significant clocking.

Nuclear Proud (Nuclear Wayne – Makin Me Proud), has four runs under her belt with nothing to show for it.

Fighting Valbee is given the nod to take home the trophy.
