KINGSTON, Jamaica – Mahogany, the undoubted top horse currently in training had it all his own way in this year’s renewal of the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Trophy, the Caymanas Monday (August 1) seventh, run over 5 ½ furlongs.
The race lost two of its original starters, She’s A Wonder and Big Jule both stable companions of Mahogany reducing the lot of starters to five.
From the get go, it was Mahogany with Dick Cardenas in the saddle, and despite being challenged early by God of Love (Jordan Barrett) and Lure of Lucy (Anthony Thomas), the Ian Parsard trainee just kept on moving away from rivals to win by 5 ¼ lengths in a time of 1:05.1 with splits of 23.0 x 45.0.
God of Love finished second and Curlin’s Affair (Reyan Lewis) third.
