The first seven-figure horse of the second day of Book 2 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale broke through in a big way Sept. 15 when Donato Lanni went to US$1.7 million to land a Quality Road colt about 3 1/2 hours into Thursday's proceedings.
Sold as Hip 886, the colt was consigned by Nardelli Sales, agent. Out of winning Street Sense mare Act Now , the bay colt boasts a deep family that includes multiple grade 2 winner Fed Biz and grade 1 winner Joking .
In the second Book 2 session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale Sept. 15 in Lexington, record-breaking 2021 freshman sire Gun Runner saw his fifth seven-figure yearling of the sale when Mike Ryan went to US$1.2 million to land a colt out of grade 1 winner Malibu Prayer , by Malibu Moon.
Bred in Kentucky by Three Chimneys, the colt (Hip 1086) was consigned by Four Star Sales, agent. Ryan did not name the owner for which the colt was purchased.
