KINGSTON, Jamaica – It has been quite a while since racing fans have seen either trainer Richard Azan or jockey Bebeto Harvey in the winners’ enclosure especially the latter.
Just moments ago, the two combined to change that situation when Axle Rod won over the five straight in a $450,000 - $400,000 – claiming event for three-year-olds and up.
Harvey had to dig deep into his reserves as Sweet Destiny (Omar Walker) launched a sustained challenge over the 1 ½ furlongs. Axle Rod and Harvey survived by a nose and Sweet Destiny was 1 ½ lengths ahead of the third-place finisher, Cruising Motion.
The winning time was 1:01.4.
