KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing for the 26th time, four-year-old grey filly Toughness walked into the winners’ enclosure for the first occasion  after success was achieved in the Caymanas Monday third.

Toughness first win came in four-year-old maiden condition call over a distance of six furlongs.

It was a mad scramble for the lead when the gates were opened. After a bunch of horses went by the half-mile pole, Toughness trained by Rowan Mathie and ridden by Dane Dawkins took over.

In the straight, Toughness galloped resolutely to win by 3 ¾ lengths. Second went to Bin Laden (Youville Pinnock), the 1-2 on favourite who had a poor start with third going to Mister A (Kiaman McGregor).
