KINGSTON, Jamaica – The three-year-old Classic season goes up a notch with the running of the Mercury Sprint for colts and geldings and the Eighth Thirty Sprint for fillies on today’s (Saturday, January 26, 2019) 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
Both events, run over five furlongs straight, basically signal the official start of the Classic season.
Eleven are entered in the Mercury with the top names being Roy Rogers trained by Dennis Lee, One Soo True trained by Patrick Fong and God Of Love conditioned by Philip Feanny.
The Eight Thirty gathers 15 fillies led by Cryptocurrency another from the barn of Philip Feanny, newcomer Princess Ava said to be burning up the exercise track under the care of Anthony Nunes and She’s On Wings entered by young and upcoming trainer Alford Brown.
