KINGSTON, Jamaica – There are three trophy races on today’s (Saturday, December 22) 11-race card at Caymanas Park.

These trophy races are the Flossie McNeil Memorial Cup, divided into two sections for three-year-olds and up – non-winners of two (fillies and mares) over six furlongs (1,200 metres); The Sunnyside Stakes over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100 metres) for two-year-olds and the Seymour Mullings Memorial Trophy for three-year-olds and up (non-winners of three) including imported horses.

Here are Gallopja.com analysis and top picks on the day in each race.

RACE 1 – The principals are Virtuoso, District Attorney and Fly First Class with Free Marie given a good outside chance. Virtuoso has been plugging away and may have found the right spot to deliver but District Attorney racing for only the second time after winning on debut is seen as a quick developing sort with a lot of scope. Fly First Class is coming along well and is afforded a look in. The choice is District Attorney – the best bet – District Attorney/Fly First Class quinella.

RACE 2 – The trainers’ race has been producing some very interesting situations involving Wayne DaCosta and Anthony Nunes. Little wonder then that we are seeing Poker Star, a genuine Grade One campaigner who has injury issues coming down to $250,000 - $210,000 claiming. Poker Star should win this one with his main challengers being Loose Cannon and Apollo Bay.

RACE 3 – Another situation where DaCosta has thrown one of his horses into claiming. Winter Is Coming is going to be a big odds-on favourite.

RACE 4 – Nunes should be well represented in this one by Twilight Heroine with the main danger being General Mubaraak.

RACE 5 – DaCosta’s Bullet Raj is going to be the odds-on favourite with the main danger being Woodhouse.

RACE 6 – Only eight starters in this one but a tough event to predict. K J Express is coming off a win on last, the sometimes-unpredictable Dragline is primed for this one, plus there is a resurging Wilson and Gary Glitter who has lost a lot of shine recently. Taking a chance with Gary Glitter with the expected odds being 4-1.

RACE 7 – Two-year-old maidens try their luck over 5 ½ furlongs with the Nunes trained Western Wheels (Western Classic – Wheels Of Law) attracting most of the attention based on exercise reports. Some to watch are Unknown Soldier (American Dance – Outfither) trained by Spencer Chung; Si Me Now (Forest Danger – Quiet Giant) and Enedina (Film Director – Yaella). Enedina ran really well on debut when finishing second behind Rojorn Di Pilot but Western Wheels is seen as something special.

RACE 8 – Difficult to see anyone here beating Sergeant Reckless with Swabybaby and Cherokee Way being the others worthy or consideration.

RACE 9 – While Rambunctious Links, Uncle Vinnie and Superbolt are going to carry the bulk of the betting. Gallopja.com is going with outsider Fifty Cents with predicted odds of 7-1.

RACE 10 – Cerasini is given another chance of winning here over Msmyrtlerichiegirl.

RACE 11 – Lici’s Pepsi is the firm choice with Brandy and My Super Girl the main dangers.
