The first winner in 2022 for trainer Jason DaCosta

KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a stirring battle in the 2021 trainers’ championship with champion Anthony Nunes, Jason DaCosta earned his first win in 2022 when his imported charge Eagle One fought to the end for victory in the Caymanas Saturday ninth.

The Caymanas Saturday ninth was for three-year-old and upwards horses at the Overnight Allowance level going 6 ½ furlongs.

Eagle One ridden by Phillip Parchment was locked in combat from the outset with Go Deh Girl (Tevin Foster), with the latter holding the advantage when they navigated the half-mile turn.

That fierce confrontation between the two continued in the stretch drive with Eagle One starting to pull away from Go Deh Girl with about a furlong and a half left in the event. But no sooner had Eagle One got the winning post in view, he had to dig even deeper to quell the large charge of El Profesor and Oshane Nugent. That Eagle One did by just a neck with Go Deh Girl third.
