The “boys” meet in Sir Howard – Custer to make winning stand

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Three-year-old colts and gelding seek to show off their progress in the 6-furlong Sir Howard Stakes tomorrow at Caymanas Park. Like the Hotline Stakes for fillies, the Sir Howard Stakes has attracted seven starters.
UNIVERSAL BOSS: (3-y-o, b g – Casual Trick – Electrifying) – Defeated by Custer over the five straight not so long ago while finishing second behind stable companion Supreme Soul over 7 1/2 furlongs. Has enough speed to handle these and has most to fear from Custer, over a journey Universal Boss should thrive on.
DOCTOR GREY: (3-y-o, gr/rn g – American Dance – Doctor Bird) – Not ready for these as yet.
BALTUSROL: (3-y-o, b g – Blue Pepsi Lodge – Star Flyer) – Fighting to find his form right now.
CUSTER: (3-y-o, ch c – Blue Pepsi Lodge - Patty Girl) – Essentially Custer is racing as a non-winner of three in a non-winners of two race. Custer has qualified for this race after already winning two races with one of those races being over three furlongs which does not count based on the conditions of the race. Trained by Philip Feanny, Custer continues to train well and with a trophy at stake, he can complete back-to-back wins here.
FATHER PATRICK: (3-y-o, b g – Nuclear Wayne – Late Appeal) – Showed quite a bit when winning on January 12 over 5 ½ furlongs. Father Patrick is one of those horses that is very difficult to assess. Father Patrick is capable of being anything, and we will wait and see how his career unfolds.
TOONA CILIATA: (3-y-o, ch g – Soul Warrior – Red Gold) – Was all the rave in his two outings to date but is yet to prove his true worth. The Sir Howard might be the stage for the unfolding of Toona Ciliata.
DUKE: (3-y-o, r c – Casual Trick - Lady MacBeth) – Prefers it longer.
