KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing for the first time this year, top rated filly in the land, She’s A Maneater had to work a bit more than expected to win the feature on the 11-race card – The Chairman’s Trophy - run at the distance of 7 ½ furlongs for Graded Stakes horses.
Coming from well off the pace with Omar Walker in the saddle, She’s A Maneater was able to wear down the long-time leader and current sprint champion Chace The Great with about a furlong to go and then swept away for a three and a half-length victory.
Second went to Chace The Great with Superluminal third. Drummer Boy who had originally finished third was disqualified and place behind his stable companion Perfect Neighbour.
She’s A Maneater covered this distance in a time of 1:32.0 to provide her trainer Wayne DaCosta and Walker with their second win on today’s Saturday programme.
After the win by his super filly DaCosta said: “Well, she is not 100 per cent fit at the moment but she is coming along nicely and this win is another step in the right direction. She is a class filly and if she stays fit is going to be there.”
