KINGSTON, Jamaica – As the three-year-olds continued their annual trek towards the Classic races later in the year, Shadowfax, by Legal Process out of Aretha staked his claim with a first win travelling seven furlongs in the Caymanas Saturday (January 8) seventh.

With Javaniel Patterson in the saddle for trainer Lawrence Freemantle, Shadowfax wasted little time in going for the lead at the off followed by his stablemate Justin Biden (Shane Richardson).

After two furlongs were completed 4-5 favourite Ha Gow Siu Mei (Robert Halledeen) came on the outside to challenge and thereafter this maiden condition contest turned out to be a direct confrontation between the two.

At the top of the lane, Ha Gow Siu Mei got his head in front, but under strong and consistent handling from Patterson, Shadowfax rallied to get by and then to hold Ha Gow Siu Mei by a neck. Another Wave (Tevin Foster) finished third.
