KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Robert Halledeen gave himself the perfect booster shot for his efforts in both the 1000 and 2000 Guineas with a well-judged victory on Tequila Blue in the Caymanas Saturday seventh.

Halledeen riding for trainer Gary Subratie piloted Tequila Blue to victory in a three-year-old maiden condition race travelling 5 ½ furlongs. Halledeen rides Sure Curlin in the 1000 and Nuclear Noon in the 2000.

When the gates opened a fight for the lead emerged involving Rocket Lily (Shane Ellis 3-5) and Let’s Get It On (Dane Nelson - 12-1). Halledeen settled Tequila Blue in third.

Turning for home, both Roget Lily and Let’s Get It On both went wide leaving a clear passage for Tequila Blue and Halledeen on the inside.

In the final furlong and a half, Tequila Blue pulled away to win by 2 1/4 lengths.

Turnonthelight came through to finish second at odds of 70-1, with Rocket Lily third.
