KINGSTON, Jamaica - Jockey Robert “Hardball” Halledeen started to ride yesterday at the Thistledowns racetrack in Ohio, USA.
Halledeen, currently fifth in the local jockey’s race with 24 wins, started his Thistledowns sojourn by finishing second aboard his first ride, the Ricardo Bailey-trained Spinster Road, losing by a neck to Frontliner with Jan Baez in the saddle.
That event was for three-year-old and upwards horses who have not won two races since December 30, 2021, over six furlongs. Frontliner won in a time of 1:11.4 seconds with splits of 22.4 x 46.0 x 58.3. Spinster Road was Halledeen’s only ride on the day.
On Monday (July 4), the next race day at Thistledowns, Halledeen has secured three rides. He will partner Check Six in the first for trainer A Rurillo Rodriquez, Venetian Dream in the fourth, and Lazarus Project in the sixth event. The latter two horses are trained by Bailey.
