SUPREME STAR OFF THE MARK

The Adin Williams-owned and trained Supreme Star won for the first time in a five-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($180,000-$150,000) call going 4 ½ furlongs (900m).

It was a smooth start for most of the runners in the eight-horse field as Supreme Star (Shavon Townsend), Highly Bless (Matthew Bennett), and Money Marshall (Oshane Nugent) disputed for the early advantage.

Crossing the dummy rails and onto the main track for competition, Highly Bless went down with jockey Matthew Bennett as Supreme Star seized control of the race and then drew off to win by 3½ lengths ahead of Money Marshall and Explosive Charge (Jerome Innis). The final time was 56.2.

FINALLY, THE ‘LIGHT’ SHINES A DAY AFTER

After finishing third behind Amad Ali and Real Bigman the previous day, Givemethelight returned in less than 24 hours and got the job done in a native-bred three-year-old maiden condition event over five furlongs (1,000m) round.

Trained by Gary Griffiths and ridden by Nicholas Hibbert, Givemethelight settled in third place behind Friendofthefamily (Anthony Thomas) and Risky Bid (Shane Ellis) entering the half-mile (800m) turn.

Turning for home with three horses spread across the track, Givemethelight, who went three wide, picked up the lead at the furlong-and-a-half (300m) pole ahead of Risky Bid and Friendofthefamily on the inside rails and went on to win by a length.

Blue Persuasion (Javaniel Patterson), who went miles wide at the top of the lane, finished second ahead of Risky Bid in third place. The final time for the race was 1:03.0.

MR LYNDHURST MAKES ONE MOVE

Nine-year-old bay gelding Mr Lyndhurst made one move to win a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000-$300,000) travelling five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course.

At the off, jockey Shane Richardson sent the Lawrence Freemantle-owned and trained Mr Lyndhurst to the front of the pack leading A Seh Soup (Andree Powell) and Morse Code (Robert Halledeen) into the half-mile.

Turning for home Mr Lyndhurst was challenged by Morse Code, but Richardson stepped on the gas and the former found extra and sprinted off to win the race by 3 ¾ lengths. Morse Code was second, and A Seh Soup. The final time was clocked at 1:02.3.

SIR KEL IN AN EASY ROMP

Sir Kel from the stables of Ryan Darby easily defeated rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Claiming ($750,000-$600,000) event at five-furlongs straight.

With Oneil Mullings in the saddle, Sir Kel showed good speed at the off, racing alongside Balazo (Raddesh Roman), Buzz City Light (Robert Halledeen), and Mister Mandate (Javaniel Patterson) on the headlines.

As the runners sorted themselves out passing the dummy rails, Sir Kel emerged as the lone leader of the pack and then began to draw away from the rest. Sir Kel won by three lengths at the wire in a time of 1:00.1. Finishing second was Mister Mandate with Buzz City Light third.
