Great Britt - Shane Ellis

RACE ONE – The winning surge by jockey Dane Dawkins continued apace when he took the first atop the Gary Subratie-trained Love Dub. For three-year-old Love Dub it was her fifth start.

RACE TWO – This race provided renowned nine-year-old bay mare Buckaluck with another trip to the winners’ enclosure. It was her eighth career win from all of 94 starts. For one-time promising apprentice Oneil Scott it was a welcome return on a winner. Scott career has gone backward in recent times, and the hope is that this win will spark a new beginning.

RACE THREE – There was an obvious sign of relief on the face of trainer Gresford Smith as after a struggle with Monsieur Blue, the imported in utero three-year-old bay gelding finally delivered. Racing with the tongue tie on, Monsieur Blue put away rivals by 7 ¾ lengths with a final time of 1:43.2 for one mile.

RACE FOUR – Dodge This Link ran as if possessed to make it win number two for Dane Dawkins on the day.

RACE FIVE – It was expected and Curlin’s Affair delivered win number six from 15 starts. With this second victory at the Overnight Allowance level, Curlin’s Affair will not match strides with the best around in Open Allowance.

RACE SIX – After leading rider Dane Dawkins increased his lead with two wins in the first five races, champion Anthony Thomas replied with an easy ride on Conundrum in the Al Gopie Memorial Cup. Quite a battle has been taking place involving Thomas and Dawkins, catching the attention of racing fans.

RACE SEVEN – It was an unexpected victory for the Richard Azan-trained Rum Puncher racing with the figure eight on. Rum Puncher seems to be blooming late, excelling more over the middle distances. Keep an eye on third place finisher Noble Impulse, racing in the three-year-old non-two for the first occasion.

RACE EIGHT – The recent phenomenon of champion trainer Anthony Nunes winning at long odds with his three-year-olds continued with Burgatti at 14-1. It was a gate-to-wire win for Burgatti (Tevin Foster), defeating Perfect Brew (Bebeto Harvey) by 1 ¼ lengths. For Perfect Brew it was another disappointment, failing to score a win in 2022 from six starts.

RACE NINE – Despite not being formally attached to any stables, six-time champion Omar Walker keeps bringing home the winners on race days. Walker was aboard 10-1 chance She’s So Fabulous for trainer Dennis Thwaites.

RACE TEN – In driving rain, causing a disruption in the broadcast quality, Gracefully Made got off the mark for trainer Al Brown after knocking at the winner’s door. This was win number two for Anthony Thomas.

RACE ELEVEN – The old racing adage of grey horses winning when the rain pours was solidified when Great Britt (Shane Ellis) obliged for trainer, owner, and breeder Carl Anderson.
