KINGSTON, Jamaica – There is simply no stopping the bustling Phillip Parchment, as after winning the first with JJ The Striker, he returned to close a double aboard the Steven Todd-trained Awesome Prince in the St Leger Day (July 2, 2022) fourth.
The St Leger Day (July 2, 2022) fourth was a three-year-old maiden condition offering going 5 ½ furlongs.
When the seventh starters were let loose by the starter, Storm A Come (Raddesh Roman) surged to the lead followed by Noble Impulse (Tevin Foster), with Parchment (on the outside) hard at work in getting Awesome Prince close to the leaders.
That objective was quickly achieved as Awesome Prince joined Storm A Come rounding the turn with Noble Impulse dropping back to third.
By the time the horses entered the lane, it was Awesome Prince in the lead with his main challenger now as Noble Impulse. As ever, in his bustling style, Parchment got enough from his mount to win by 1 ¾ lengths. Noble Impulse was second and Storm A Come third.
Awesome Prince was win number 14 this season for Parchment.
