On to the 2000 Guineas – Quickgallop.com’s assessment
KINGSTON, Jamaica – After yesterday’s victory in 1000 Guineas by the Anthony Nunes trained, Simon Husbands ridden, I Am Di One, it is now time for the colts and geldings to do battle in the 2000 Guineas.
An assessment of the runners in the season’s second Classic is provided by the Quickgallop.com team of analysts.
– RUN THATCHER RUN: – (3 ch c – Fearless Vision – Ahwhofah) – Run Thatcher Run’s preparation for the 2000 Guineas has been curtailed by an injury, forcing his trainer to race him twice within a week fairly close to the big race itself. In those two races, Run Thatcher Run demonstrated true grit and determination, with his last win coming at the Overnight Allowance, the highest grade reached any three-year-old thus far. Run Thatcher Run is not going to be helped by the number one draw. To win this Classic event, Run Thatcher Run is going to run the race of his life.
– EARN YOUR STRIPES: (3 ch c – Nuclear Wayne – Brown Sugar) – At times good, at times bad. Earn Your Stripes is difficult to has docked some excellent clocking but has failed to deliver when required. Earn Your Stripes has been tearing up the exercise track and it is now time to see whether or not he can produce on race day.
– SEBASTIAN: (3 b c – Western Classic – Sea Treaty) – Sebastian is from the Sea Treaty bloodline, which is known to produce Classic winners in Jamaica and Trinidad. If ever a horse is primed for a Classic run, it is Sebastian. Watch Sebastian very carefully.
– INSPIRED MIRACLE: (3 b c – Miracle Man – Lady Madras) – Needs a miracle.
– IN THE BLOOD: (3 ch c – Strikewhileitshot – Appassionata) – Not in with a chance.
- BLOODSWEATANDTEARS: (3 b  c – Strikewhileitshot – Miss Nickels) – Far from being ready.
– SEA CRUISE: (3 b c – American Dance – Rip Current) – Needs help in this one.
– FATHER PATRICK: (3 b g – Nuclear Wayne – Late Appeal) –With natural improvement taken into consideration, Father Patrick is going to make a bold bid. He has been well prepared for this one and has the class the only question is him getting the distance of a mile.
– TOONA CILIATA: (3 ch. g – Soul Warrior – Red Gold) – One of those reaching his prime at precisely the right time. Has grown tough and that resilience is going to come in very handy on Sunday (April 14).
– SENTIENT: (3.ch c – Strikewhileitshot – Lady Geetadeo) –Sentient at this stage is on the right trajectory but the 2000 Guineas is here and now. Nevertheless, Sentient cannot be disregarded.
– TRICKY ONE: (3 b c – Casual Trick – The Golden One) – As consistent as Tricky One might be, he won’t be a major factor here.
– AWESOME AVIATOR: (3 dkb  c – Casual Trick – Royal Victress) – Just starting to feel the cut and thrust of what competitive racing is all about. Awesome Aviator is going to win out his conditions but not on a Sunday, which is 2000 Guineas day.
– DUKE: (3 gr c - Casual Trick – Lady Macbeth) – Has an outsider’s chance.
– SUPREME SOUL: (3 ch c – Soul Warrior – Beware Baby) – Beaten only once in five starts and that was by Run Thatcher Run in the Jamaica Two-Year- Old Stakes over a mile last December. Supreme Soul, a half-brother to top ‘A’ Class resident Bigdaddykool, has won three consecutive races ranging from 7 to 9 furlongs and 25 yards to prep him perfectly for the 2000. Supreme Soul possesses sublime talent while showing more affinity to go longer than a mile and when compared with his half-brother has more early speed thereby making a mile almost faultless at this time in his career. Supreme Soul is the obvious choice to win the 2019 – 2000 Guineas, but, who knows what will happen?
