KINGSTON, Jamaica - Former six-time champion jockey Omar “Hot” Walker recorded his 1,200th career victory aboard the Jason DaCosta-trained Pretty Girl at Caymanas Park on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
The milestone win came in a native-bred three-year-old fillies only maiden special weight event over six furlongs (1,200m).
Pretty Girl (Deputy Glitters – Runaway Queen) slammed rivals by five lengths in a time of 1:15.1. Second went to Hidden Valley (Dick Cardenas) and third to Desha (Youville Pinnock).
“It’s a great feeling to win 1,200 races in my career. That in any language is quite a milestone to ahve winners and I am grateful for everything. I have worked very hard over the years and I thank God in keeping well so that I could get my 1200th win.
“The celebration doesn’t stop here as I will continue to do the hard work. I must thank everyone for their input,” Walker said.
DaCosta was also happy for Walker: “I am very proud of him; he has had an extremely successful career and this is just another achievement by him. He started off with my dad and I am happy to be a part of the milestone with him. Omar has been working with me lately and I am planning to keep on giving him a few rides.”
