KINGSTON, Jamaica – Soul Cure with a rejuvenated Robert Halledeen in the saddle took over the lead in the Maiden Special Weight eighth race for three-year-olds over five and a half furlongs leaving the three-furlong marker with Sweet Like Sugar (Omar Walker) stalking about two lengths behind.
Then in a pulsating stretch duel, Walker and Sweet Like Sugar was able to get up in time - on the line to nip Soul Cure. Third was 99-1 outsider Dora Lee.
Then after a stewards’ inquiry, Soul Cure was disqualified and place behind fourth placed Raw Liquid.
Sweet Like Sugar, a three-year-old bay filly by Traditional – Trippy’s Greatstar is trained by Ian Parsard.
The winning time was 1:07.3.
