KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Following the GOVERNMENT OF JAMAICA’S (GOJ) decision to declare Sunday, 18, 2022, as an official day of mourning, to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II, the race day planned for the same day was moved to Monday (September 19).
Then news broke not from the GOJ, but from King’s House that the day of mourning had been switched to Monday (September 19), the day of the late monarch’s funeral.
This change then led to the regulatory agency of racing, the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) informing the promoting company, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment (SVREL) that the Monday (Sept 19) had to be changed.
SVREL decided and then requested from the JRC, a change of the race day from Monday (Sept 19), to the now new date, Tuesday, September 20.
The race day of Tuesday, September 20, will incorporate the original programme of nine races.
