LONGTIME OWNER, HORSE RACING SUPPORTER MRS HILLIS NUNES PASSES ON

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Mrs Hillis Nunes, a longtime owner of racehorses, who dedicated most of her life to the sport of horse racing passed away yesterday. Mrs Nunes was in her early 90s.
She is the wife of former champion trainer in Jamaica, Nigel Nunes, and the mother of champion trainer in Barbados Andrew, and champion trainer in Jamaica, Anthony. Hillis Nunes is best remembered as the owner of one of the best fillies ever to race on the local track, Hot Line.
Speaking with QUICKGALLOP.COM, Anthony Nunes said: “Mom lived a life dedicated to her husband, and her children. She was a pivotal part of our development and was an avid supporter of horse racing. Even in her latter days, she was still reading the newspapers, keeping up with horse racing news, especially the careers of her children. I know she is sleeping peacefully.”

  1. My Aunt Hillis was a second mother to me a devoted family person and one that I have many fond memories with. She touched many and will be greatly missed. I am a lucky man to have known and loved Aunt Hillis. May you rest in eternal peace.
