Lici’s Pepsi upsets at 4-1 to win 1st race of 2019

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Lici’s Pepsi trained by veteran Patrick Fong created a mild 4-1 upset in the 2019 New Year’s Day Trophy – the 1st race of the year – a short while ago at Caymanas Park.
Run over 6 ½ furlongs, Lici’s Pepsi ridden by Javaniel Patterson caught leader and 1-5 favourite My Super Girl (Tevin Foster) at the top of the straight and moved away impressively while recording a time of 1:19.2. The splits were 23.3 x 46.3 x 1:12.0. The winning margins were 5 ¼ x 2 1/4.
Second was Anna Lisa (Dane Nelson) at odds of 2-1 with third the lot of Uncle Vinnie (Omar Walker) at 15-1.
Lici’s Pepsi paid $258 to win and $98 to place.
