Laws of the Code gets Caymanas Saturday (May 1) underway with gate to wire move

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Although running wide at the turn and drifting even wider in the straight, Laws of the Code was still able to win the Breakfast Cup which was the Caymanas Saturday (May 1) first.

That event was for five-year-old and upwards in the $180,000 - $150,000 claiming bracket, which was run over 5 ½ furlongs.

With number one Money Call declared a late non-starter, jockey Jordan Barrett atop the Joseph Durrant trained Laws of the Code shot off in front when the starter pushed his button and was never head.

The seven-year-old roan mare, obviously feeling her pins went wide at the turn for home and despite many challengers and even after drifting towards the stands held on to win by three parts of a lengths.

Reasons (Aaron Chatrie) was second and Mount Zion King (Youville Pinnock) third.

For trainer Durrant, Laws of the Code was his second winner this year, while for Barrett it was his fourth.

Laws of the Code was winning for the fifth time from 34 career starts.
