KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was a hard-fought win for 6-5 favourite Latapy (Dane Nelson) trained by Johnny Wilmot in the Caymanas Saturday (April 17) second.

Nelson had to fight using all his strength to keep Latapy under control in the stretch drive as the five-year-old grey horse was giving trouble in keeping a straight course and required strong handing.

That Nelson was able to so was a testimony to his skill as he was able in the final yardage to nip long-time leader Nuclear Emma (Paul Francis) by three parts of a length.

Third was Uncle Vernon (Youville Pinnock).

Latapy was scoring his fourth victory from 36 starts. The win was the seventh in 2021 by Wilmot.
