KING ARTHUR RETURNS TO THE ROUND TABLE AT ODDS OF 9-1

KINGSTON, Jamaica – King Arthur returned to the winners’ enclosure with a rousing victory in the Lady Geeta Trophy which was an Open Allowance | Graded Stakes contest at six furlongs.
It was King Arthur’s stablemate, the lightly weighted Lure of Lucy (Jordan Barret) who set the early splits but after a furlong and a half, Father Patrick (Oshane Nugent) swooped down on the outside to overtake. They were followed some three to four lengths behind by King Arthur with Omar Walker aboard and Duke (Robert Halledeen). Halledeen had replaced Dane Dawkins atop Duke.
Father Patrick took rivals into the lane for the final two furlong-run but faded out of contention as Duke was the first to pounce taking the lead with 1 ½ furlong left to go. By then Walker had taken the Jason DaCosta trainee King Arthur on the inside and the former Derby winner increased his gallop and in so doing flashed by all and sundry to win by 4 ½ lengths in a final time of 1:12.1 with backing splits of 22.2 x 45.3.
Duke finished second with Lure of Lucy third.
With this win, King Arthur has now soared over $10 million in lifetime earnings, and he was the second winner on the day for DaCosta.
