KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a daring front runner effort, Christopher Mamdeen shot Virtuoso into the lead after two furlongs and try as Kalahari (Robert Halledeen) might, she was not able to go by the plucky and vigorously ridden Virtuoso.
Then came a stewards’ injury and after quite a while, Virtuoso’s number was taken down and place fifth for causing intimidation and interference to number 4, Nala’s Bushman shortly after the start of the race.
Kalahari gave his trainer Anthony Nunes his second winner on the day and the first for Halledeen.
The race won by Kalahari was a Restricted Allowance – four-year-olds and up – non-winners of two run over a mile.
Dad’s Luck was second and Lazer Light third.
The winning time for a mile was 1:43.3.
