KINGSTON, Jamaica - Jordon Reign’s, following a hat-trick of wins, posted his fourth-consecutive success, this time at the 1,600 metres mark. This foreigner dishevelled a competitive field of three-year-old and upwards Graded Stakes/Open Allowance runners in taking home the She’s A Maneater Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
Jordan Reign’s, trained by Ian Parsard faced his sternest test to date while racing over his farthest distance in a competitive situation.
Ridden by the leading rider Dane Dawkins, the imported American bay gelded son of Mosler out of Dearie Be Good won the event by two widening lengths in a time of 1:39.1 seconds with accompanying split fractions of 24.0, 46.4, 1:12.4 seconds while registering his seventh win from nine starts. The quality of the latest win also highlighted Jordon Reign’s status as the most-improved racer at present, having moved from a non-winner of two to a Graded Stakes winner in less than a year.
“To produce his last winning run Jordon Reign’s worked exceptionally for the race, and with no Mahogany, in the race, we were pretty confident of victory going in as we did not believe that there was any horse in Jamaica that would have caused much concern going a mile.
“For a long time he wanted to at longer distances, and this was the first time the opportunity presented itself and we took full advantage of the occasion, although I thought that we got a tough handicap.
” Nevertheless, we had him prepared not to yield but to get the job done when called upon to do so at the given time. This happens at times when horses are in a state of rapid improvement, as Jordon Reign’s is a very talented horse and our responsibility is to keep him fit and healthy, to give him a decent chance.
“To be honest, he was responding to his training schedule much better than I have seen a horse do while going through his paces in preparation for race day. There are many surprises in racing, but I would have been most surprised if he had lost on this occasion, so well-tuned he was.
“For him, the next outing is the Gold Cup, depending on how he comes out of the race. He just had two hard races and trained unflinchingly for this race and I plan to give him a good rest to get himself back together. So, during his break, he will get to swim and try and get back in shape for the Gold Cup.
“I am satisfied with the handling of Jordon Reign’s by the rider. Dawkins is an unbelievably capable jockey. He is a thoughtful a rider in carrying out his riding duties while he is in the saddle. Therefore, [there] is very little that is needed to be explained to him as there is little more to say to him,” assistant trainer Peter John Parsard said.
