KINGSTON, Jamaica – After a brief tussle at the top of the lane, apprentice Kiaman McGregor kept Jon Marshall straight as can be while Big Paul drifted to the right and as a result got home comfortably in the first of 11 races at Caymanas Park just minutes ago.
Jon Marshall trained by Phillip Lee won an Optional Claiming event for $250,000 - $200,000 claimers over 5 ½ furlongs.
Being Jockeys’ Day at the Park, the event was named in honour of former champion apprentice, Linton Steadman.
Second went to Big Paul (Daniel Satchell) with Cue Three (Romario Smith) third.
Jon Marshall’s winning time was a slow 1:10.3.
