RACE TYPE: Four-year-old and upwards Maiden Condition
RACE DISTANCE: 7 furlongs
KINGSTON, Jamaica – It has happened! Finally, after 16 attempts and after selling favourite many times only to disappoint Sheboom was able to find the winning post in front.
Ridden by Robert Halledeen and owned and trained by Patrick “Wacky” Lynch, SheBoom had to fight hard for his maiden victory as Helicopter (Javaniel Patterson) hovered around in the straight.
From a fairly level break, Sniper Man (Oshane Nugent) assumed the lead but was quickly displaced by the well backed Daytona Belle (Jordan Barrett).
Then Halledeen saw an opening and decided to push SheBoom into the lead just before entering the final two furlongs but Helicopter persistently challenged to no avail and had to settle for second. It should be noted that Helicopter suffered from a slow start and while making up ground on the rails had to negotiate through some pesky traffic and therefore had to be checked by his rider several times. Watch this one in the future.
Silent Cat (Hakeem Pottinger) was third.
