KINGSTON, Jamaica – With one horse in the 1000 Guineas and seven in the 2000 Guineas, champion and leading trainer Anthony Nunes got his Classic race day off to the perfect start when his charges Hecandance and Devine Lexie finished one-two in the Caymanas Saturday second.

Ridden by Shane Ellis, who is known for his many successes in Classic races, Hecandance (6-5) was victorious in a five-year-old and upwards Restricted Allowance contest for non-winners of two races at 7 ½ furlongs.

Ellis simply waited on Hecandance behind Fighting Valbee (Dick Cardenas) and Cruzinn Jed (Robert Halledeen).

Fighting Valbee quickly lost the lead as Cruzinn Jed took over as Ellis brought Hecandance closer and after getting a clear inside run entering the straight had enough to hold the late effort of his stablemate Devine Lexie (Reyan Lewis).

Star Boy Flyer (Phillip Parchment) finished third.
