KINGSTON, Jamaica - Eight of Jamaica’s most successful horse grooms will be honoured at the Burger King Superstakes Raceday at Caymanas Park on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

The honourees have groomed the ten most recent “Horse of the Year” winners.  They include: Arthur Spencer, 2008 “Alsafra”; Keith Cornwall – 2009 “Ahwhofah”; Donville Smith – 2010 “Mark My Word”; Samuel Carty – 2011 and 2012 “Saint Cecelia”; Byron Murray - 2013 “Princess Popstar”; Clive Lawrence – 2014 “Typewriter”; Linval McFarlane – 2015 and 2016 “Seeking My Dream” and Lewisito DaCosta – 2017 “She A Maneater”.

Sabrena McDonald Radcliffe, Head of Sales & Marketing at Restaurant Associates Limited (RAL), franchise holders for Burger King in Jamaica said, “we have developed a reputation for honouring and preserving the legacies of persons who have contributed to the development of the sport in Jamaica and this year we are placing the spotlight on the Grooms. These unsung heroes are often the ones who know the horses best, and who contribute to their success.”

“When we watch a race, we see the horse and jockey working together as they strive to win.  We see the immaculate grooming of the horse from their glossy coat to their perfect braids.  But while we appreciate the hard work of the horse groom, we may not think about them as part of the horse’s performance”, Mrs. McDonald Radcliffe noted.
