KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a devastating performance Further and Beyond underlined his superiority at this stage of the two-year-old campaign with a facile victory in the Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy.

This was the seventh race on the Caymanas Sunday card and was competed for among two-year-olds travelling seven furlongs.

Further and Beyond a chestnut colt by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble ridden by Dane nelson and trained by champion Anthony Nunes watched as his stablemate Hoist The Mast (Dick Cardenas) set the early fractions of 23.1 x 45.1 x 1:10.1.

The anticipated duel between Hoist The Mast and She’s A Wonder (Omar Walker) did not materialise as under a different ride She’s A Wonder was kept off the pace.

After three furlongs She’s A Wonder got wound up and pushed down to tackle Hoist The Mast for the lead but by then Hoist the Mast was flowing with Further and Beyond hugging the inside rails.

Entering the straight, Further and Beyond got a clear run on the inside and with both Hoist The Mast and She’s A Wonder faltering it was left to the previously unbeaten Den Street to run on for second with Hoist The Mast eventually finishing third.

The winning time recorded by Further and Beyond, the full brother to this year’s 1000 Guineas and Oaks winner Above and Beyond was a noticeable 1:25.3.

This was the second winner on the day for Nunes and the first for Nelson.
