Fighting win by odds on American Invader in second event

KINGSTON, Jamaica – At starting odds of 1-5 in a field of six, American Invader was expected to be home and dry before her other five rivals even noticed.
Yes, it was not so, for the “Invader”, as another foreigner Harry’s Train proved difficult to handle right throughout the race.
Omar Walker, the rider of American Invader had to work overtime and only gained the winning lead inside the final furlong eventually defeating Harry’s Train (Paul Francis) by just a length.
Third went to Summer Sun (Phillip Parchment) who was running on.
The winning time over 5 ½ furlongs in the Restricted Stakes event was 1:07.3.
Band of Gold was a late non-starter.
The race was named in honour of champion jockey, Anthony Thomas.
