KINGSTON, Jamaica – Left behind at the start, Fighting Valbee surged in the final half a furlong to win the Caymanas Tuesday (August 3) first.

Fighting Valbee running under the guidance of trainer Michael Marlowe with Aaron Chatrie on board was successful in a five-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two) event at 6 ½ furlongs.

It was Free Addi (Dick Cardenas) who set the early fractions with Corazon Sin Miedo (Anthony Thomas) tracking on the outside.

Thomas pushed Corazon Sin Miedo in front with three furlongs to go as Fighting Valbee was still far behind.

Corazon Sin Miedo entered the straight with a comfortable three lengths lead as Fighting Valbee came into the picture frame for the first time getting a clear run on the inside, just the way Chatrie likes it.

Corazon Sin Miedo slowed down in the final half a furlong, as Fighting Valbee swept by to win by 1 ¾ lengths.

Funky Fashion (Youville Pinnock) was third.
